The Candle

By Anchita Jayaprakash Narayan

The candle’s doubts

The flicker of flame, like the flicker of hope,

Should I blaze brighter or let it elope?

I yearn to ignite, to be something grand,

Yet the melting wax, like doubt, in my hand.

Will I burn out, will I cease to glow?

Still, the craving for more sets my heart aglow.

The hunger to surge, to test my might,

To see how far the light extends, how far the flames ignite.

But in the end, I’m but a candle’s brief glow,

Fleeting and fragile, with so much yet to know……

The candle’s guide

………..The flicker of flame, a whisper of hope,

Burn brighter, my dear, brighter than you ever dared to hope.

Ignite and become something grand,

Let the wax guide you, erase doubt’s hand.

You won’t burn out; passion drives you,

Set your heart ablaze, let your fire stay true.

See how far you go, how far your flames ignite.

You’re a candle, enough to set the world on fire,

Strong and brave, more than you know,

In countless ways, I will watch you glow.
