The Broken Dial

By Jeetisha Dutt

Stride towards the unknown, the pace is fast,

As the mist of memories fades away.

Leaving behind the joys of past.

For time waits for none they say.

Calm and tranquil, lost in a trance,

Slowly surging, like a river she flows.

But leads she to the ocean's expanse,

To the awaiting storm that nobody knows.

Hark to the melody of a raging war cry,

As one conquers another on the battlefield of despair.

The chronicles of fate cannot deny,

That victory sings through the grey dusk air.

Yet there is melancholy among chiming bells of brass.

Devastation, the evidence to eternity's trial.

Hearts wounded by shattered slivers of glass,

On the shattered visage of a broken dial.
