The Boy and The Puddle

Can I tell you something, or are you busy right now Ma ?

I had an ordinary day at school

The classes went on fine,

and I answered what the teacher asked me

but I have something else to tell you,

I found a great puddle just outside the parking lot,

and before forming the queue for the bus,

My friend Leroy and I, splashed on the puddle to our hearts content!

We laughed and jumped until the brown water had drenched our socks and shorts,

Our shoes , they were soaking wet too- It was the best part of the day. What can I say Ma, it gave us such a thrill !

And furthermore when I entered the school bus, Tony envied me for the chocolate-coloured socks,

He said that he hadn't noticed the puddle, such a loss!

Ma, did I irk you ?

It was not my intention.

I promise you it is joyous , just try it once with me?

I’ll take you with me to a puddle below our house, and just you wait, you will love it.

Ma, did you splash a puddle too when you were in school?

Oh! I would love to see you play for once.
