The Better Life

By Radnyee Lolayekar

There, firm and still she lay,

A couple of breaths away.

The sorrow all incarcerated

Nothing at all liberated

She was always haunted by fears

Of deceit that brought huge tears

The memories of lost freedom

The scars of hatred really gruesome

The thought of regret choked within

The dreams unfulfilled buried in

And then the eyes closed tight

And the light shone bright

She had now departed forever

To a world that was her saviour

Where her breaths were free

And the spark of dreams she could see

She never felt choked now on

The unbearable deceits begone

The forgotten times had returned back

Hope had filled the broken crack

Now she had no regrets, no lies

And with her were just the good and wise

Into a world which was now hers

She the only power, the sole ruler…. Just the ruler…
