The Ass between the Unicorns

They call me the ass between the unicorns

A beast of burden in a field of myths,

Ears too long, hooves too cracked,

No shimmer, no horn - just beath and grit

But I know the truth beneath their jest

I am the one who carries the weight

While they prance on clouds of praise

I walk the dust path, steady with fate.

They sparkle in mirrors, vanish in storms

I endure. I remember. I rise.

Not born of fantasy, but of fire

No rare, but real. Not pretty, but wise.

Let them toss their glitter like truth

Let them call me plain, call me slow

I am the spine of the story they tell

The one who moves while others glow.

So, laugh, if you must - I’ll bray like a bell,

I’ll wear your insult like a crown of thorn,

For I am the ass between the unicorns -

And I am the reason the myth is born.
