The Agony of Mother Earth

She took us in and gave us life

Showered us with abundance

Gave us more than we needed

More than enough to live by.

In return, she asked us for nothing

All we had to do was live in harmony

Keep the balance and love her like she had

Tread gently, maintain the stability.

The scalloped fields of golden goodness

Flowers and fruits of colors oh! so bright

Bountiful harvest she gave us

She made sure no one is empty handed, no one is left behind.

But how sad is it to see now

All we did was exploit her kindness

We did not stop or revert the destruction we caused

We put her through grueling pain, how did we become so mindless?

A few voices were heard

Who spoke out for her

Trying to remind the rest of the mistakes we had made

All that needed to be undone.

Nevertheless, our ignorant actions scarred her forever

In the name of development, we justified our actions

It’s for a better future they said, this is how we advance

However, without the mercy of mother nature all were looking at is unwanted destruction.

Now we all shall face the consequences

We already are witnessing all around the world

The stability is lost, it’s all in shambles

Yet even now we look at it as a phenomenon, which is just a phantom.
