The Agonising Silence.
By Alpana Kala
Am I hearing-impaired, or is your voice weak,
That your words fail to reach me?
The shifting dunes of time have
Changed the dynamics of our relationship.
We were enjoined to be soulmates
Having taken sacred vows around the fire,
Destined to walk hand in hand,
Through the vagaries of time and tide
What happened then, is left to mull over
When did you stop responding and start reacting
To my innocuous and guileless remarks,
Your irritation palpable in your gestures.
All that is left today are the ashes
Of a relationship gone awry.
What you said was lost on me
What I said vanished in thin air.
