The Absurd Man

By Najmus Saqib

The Absurd Man, when faced with grief,

Impulsively, he sinks his teeth—

A boulderless man walking a heath,

A glazed sword without a sheath.

When life forces him onto his knees,

Karma and fate? A dull disease.

Words don’t work, and prayers seize—

A man drowning in what life decrees.

He pushes the boulder up the hill,

A hunter on a prowl, poised to kill.

Blood of denial he must spill—

Enduring and struggling, a man still!

A raging fire. A rebellion.

An overdose of adrenaline!

Mediocrity’s acetaminophen!

Meaning of life’s allergen.

His agency is never defied,

Rooted in present, ever by my side.

I won’t hide that he’s my guide—

The boulder now is housed inside.
