Thank you

When the going gets tough

sometimes I’m not tough enough to keep going

But a special thank you

to those who keep my engine running

In first place is my cosy bed

where the whirlwind of thoughts in my head

Dies down and I get some rest

my safe haven from the craze

where I cry to God to make a way

Where I indulge in passions forbidden

and relieve myself of urges that refuse to go away

Second place goes to my book and pen

the pen, my fiercest weapon,

telling the stories the mouth dare not say

The book, a garden of secrets

Where wild thoughts bloom beyond comprehension

You two have seen me through the darkest of days,

It would be wrong not to let you know

how deeply I appreciate you

Third place goes to my greatest cheerleaders

My amazing mom and my incredible siblings

who, more than myself, believe in me:

Without your encouraging words

I’d never be able to climb out of the pit of rejection I once wallowed in.

You keep me going when it gets tough

your faith in me burns a fire so bright

no words will ever be enough

to say ‘thank you’ right

How could I forget the other people who think I’m great?

You still saw a genius in me even at my lowest

The list is too long

but in my heart you’re all adored

Only God can give you what you most desire

Saved the best for the last -Jehovah Almighty

I come to you when I’m low

or when I’m all jumpy

You listen without judgement

you act with no resentment

I’d be the biggest fool

if I didn’t fall to my knees in appreciation

I love all of you immensely

for you’ve made me who I am

May my life be a testament

that makes you proud
