Tethered

When i was born

I weighed so little

I was practically floating.

My parents tied a rock around my ankle

So I couldn't fly away.

And soon I learned to crawl

And later walk

Making sure every step i took

touched the ground

Then when I was 10

The snickering begin

Snickering became giggling

And giggling led to gossiping

I began to run

I ran and ran as fast as my little my legs would take me I felt my feet missing the ground

My feet lifted higher and higher off the ground I was almost there!

I stretched my hands out to reach the sky

Then I felt a tug around my ankle

I looked down and saw the rock still tethered to my ankle Oh right

My heart sunk

And so did the rest of my body

That night as I sat underneath the large tree I cried for the first time
