Teenage Love

At 16, I fell in love with a boy who snuck into my room at night.

He climbed up rooftops at 3am and talked about life.

He went wherever the wind blew him, danced with me in pouring rain.

I loved him but he found love a dangerous game.

He liked to drink wine on late summer nights,

Liked to stumble on the sidewalks with his fingers entwined with mine.

He vanished months later, gone with the breeze

And I never think of him, except for midnights like this.
