We live in the Digital Era where we are surrounded by technology. From the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep, we are continuously using and interacting with technology. Technology is being used everywhere - from daily work to entertainment. But it is also necessary to know about technology to use it safely.

Do you know what kind of mobile games and computer games we play nowadays? Games like Mountain Runner, Call of Duty, Tomb of the Mask, Plants Vs. Zombies etc. use technology to work. The functions are coded and made into a script which is sent to your mobile or computer to enable the game. Even digital calculators used by students work because of technology. The websites on your computer, the various apps and softwares, speakers, electronic gadgets, cars, etc. all exist because of technology.

Technology has been around only since the 19th Century. As humans are constantly developing, their needs are also changing. To satisfy these needs, necessary changes are being made in various appliances. For example, if we compare the automobiles of the early 19th century to the luxurious cars of the 20th Century, we'll see that there are a lot of changes. Cars now don't produce much noise and exhaust and are faster as compared to the automobiles. Some of the latest advancements in technology lie in the field of health services and digital systems. With neuromorphic computing, we have developed brain-like processors that can help process information like a human being to get optimal results. New sensors are being installed at traffic signals, and if noise reaches over 100dB, the red light restarts so people have to wait longer. Devices have been created to filter salt water to make it potable and fit for drinking. Apps have been created to ensure the safety of citizens in case of emergencies. '112 India' is one such app. There is technological advancement in every sector of life, so many that it gets hard to even name all of them. And many more inventions and discoveries are continuing in every part of the world.

Just because technology is developing rapidly, it doesn't mean that all advancements are just a better version of the previous one. We know that a mobile phone was invented for communication at first. But now, a mobile phone can serve as an entertainment device, research device and even stores a lot of information. Many automation and software tools have been developed which helps complete tasks faster and saves energy. Cars can now drive themselves thanks to automation. Due to advancements in healthcare technologies, doctors are now able to diagnose and treat patients better which helps cure and prevent various diseases. Students use language models and various AI softwares for better understanding of their study material.

But just as every coin has two sides, there are disadvantages of technology as well. When technology is overused, people slowly become dependent on it and hence lose the ability to make decisions by themselves. Now that AI has been developed, most of the tasks are being completed by using AI. This is resulting in loss of jobs for humans. Students can use technology to complete their homework for them. This promotes laziness as students don't think and instead copy ready made answers. If people use technology too much, they get addicted to it. Entertainment videos available on mobile phones and T.V sets provide short dopamine boosts but once you stop watching, the dopamine boost already passes. This makes you want to keep watching and makes you addicted to it. Some technologies require high maintenance and are very costly. This prevents poor and middle class people from reaping its benefits. When we use technology, we leave traces behind which is always stored somewhere. Hackers can find these traces and download malware onto our devices. Due to this, data can get transferred into unknown servers which can be very harmful.

Because of all such risks, it is necessary to use technology in a responsible manner. Whenever we use technology, we should be careful not to share our personal details online. We should be aware of scammers and always be cautious of suspicious links and messages. All the data entered online gets stored and it is used to make our online experience better. But we should be careful about the entered information as hackers can use that information against us. Content links on various websites should be verified before viewing them. We should limit use of technology to ensure that it doesn't become an addiction. Even small changes will have great effects.

With the speed of development in the technological sphere, we can estimate and make an assumption that the world will have changed completely in the next 50 years. Developments are being made for 6G and 7G cell phone network speeds. Army and military equipments are becoming more and more advanced. New features are appearing in mobile phones for better personalisation and safety. India has also started underwater Metro trains for time-efficient scenic travels. New technology is making our life more easy and effortless. From self-driving cars to devices for reducing pollution, technology is becoming an important and irreplaceable part of our life.

In conclusion, my view is that technology when used responsibly becomes a super power, but when it is misused, it becomes the greatest source of destruction. We must always use technology for ethical developments that help in the progress of society. No encouragement should be given to unethical use of technology. That way, we can ensure that use of technology promotes growth and development.
