Tears of Ruby
By Lalhriat Kima
Her postprandial smoke doth trail behind
Docile pretending, devious by design
Thin lines painted arms, ash smeared dress
She’s a mastermind, but you wouldn’t have guess
Maybe it was in the tea she sips each morning
Or maybe the way she lights her cigarette
Only she can dodge rounds men came gunning
Only she can compel men to question their faith
But lies mystery beneath the beauty
Traumatic past and self-inflicted cruelty
Ruby eyed-lady, dancing under the moon
She might’ve snuff out the fires of war,
If there was one, one that is not her own
She might’ve calm a dragon’s roar,
If there was one, it’d carry her off of Zone
In pursuit of freedom she’d never truly known
