Taking The Reins
By Agrima Bajpai
He says don't judge a book by its cover,
and later changes the book's cover so that it could become his perfect lover.
He says actions speak louder than words,
yet never heard my urge to become a bird.
He himself asks to spill the beans,
but pretends to not recognize what I actually mean.
He said empty vessels make the most noise,
Therefore, a heavy heart became my newfound choice.
Then he said good night and sweet dreams,
but I noted painful nights filled with silent screams.
Then finally I made my own rule book,
which never bothered what his mind cooked.
It had no place for 'he',
It only cared for 'me'.
The rule was to keep the ball in my court,
until he takes me to the final court.
The rule was to constantly try to fly high,
So that there are no dreams left when I die.
