TAKE ME INTO THE GARDEN

Take me out into the garden

Where I can see the flowers.

How long have I been in bed,

How many painful hours?

But I am feeling better

The fever has left my brow.

The morning seems much brighter,

I think I’ll get up now.

I long to feel the warmth

Of the early morning sun

To feel my strength returning

To stand and walk and run.

Why are the faces around me

Tearful, sad and drawn?

Can’t they see I’m better

In the light of early dawn?

They do not hear me speaking

The doctor shakes his head.

Oh God, I’m feeling better

Surely I’m not …….dead?
