Swan Dance

Feminism, what a strange word, they say,

Not fully grasping the concept quite yet;

For does it point towards a battle between the sexes?

Or is it a cruel way of showing superiority to the muscle and brain?

Studied vastly with a sense of intrigue and despise,

It sure seems to stir up a controversial premise;

Equality, they say, is intrusion into an already dominated arena,

Unaware that it isn’t a signal to wage war but the waving of a white flag.

It appears to be an elegant dance between permission and acceptance,

To preach that competence sings louder then biological machinery;

Appreciative of the strength and resilience within the fairer sex,

Urging the embrace of her ambitions and intellect.

Illiteracy and prejudice seem to malign the beauty of her mind,

Held back by the boulders of fear and judgement;

She gets washed up by the waves of inhumanity and complacency,

Floating into the serenity, wielded by her courage and compassion.
