Suppression
By Shubhangi Anuragi
when your demeanor changes
with changing places
when you smile and be patient
even when you hate it
when you can't be angry
at those clueless faces
can I be angry when people don't get it?
when they show anger
you calmly take it
when you show anger
why do they get angered, why agitated?
can I be angry despite the circumstances?
when you can't blame or smash that glass
when you can't be loud against the mass
it is 'suppression' for you still don't choose otherwise
can I be angry when I'm not proud of my pathetic, cowardly self?
for every time I took a step back
for every time I held my silence
for every time I didn't extend my hand
can I be angry when they toy with my life?
when they're angry over their wrongdoing not going right
can I be angry?
when they're angry over that one lie
can I be angry?
when they bash me for only crying
can I?
when all else bends you to be calculative
when you can't be your heart's submissive
when stopping to kick a stone is a fool's directive
I guess I don't own any rights
I'm only withering in hatred, pity, and blight
I swear I tried to be better and to fight
and anger? it is a luxury
perhaps I can afford it in coming times.
