Sunset

It's hard to anticipate the rising sun

when you don't want the prior to rest,

for in the quest of another sunrise

you missed out on the best sunset.

It's hard to forget the songs

their lyrics engraved in your heart,

to carve out the last pieces

only to start to fall apart.

For you lose yourself

forget who you were before they came,

everything seems as it was

but nothing will ever be the same.

With time it'll get better

they say you'll move on,

so I'll bid the sun goodbye

and count on the next dawn. With time it'll get better

they say you'll move on,

so stop holding memories

when they themselves are gone.

It's hard to start all over

when the puzzle felt complete,

but the pieces never fit in reality

simply forced onto the sheet.

It's hard to break homes

remove each brick by hand,

it all felt forever yet drowned

transient castles in the sand.

It's hard to abandon the promises

all the plans you'd dreamt as one,

to accept the facts here and now

that it'll all amount to none.
