Stench Of Death
By Lalsa Verma
It is they say
When the body fails
And the flesh falls off the bones
It is what you feel is the stench of death
It is they say
When the vilest people sob, and pray
Praises are heard in every corner
And friends and foe shroud in the same shade of dismay
It is that when you know the stench of death
It is they say
When the last of your breaths dwindle
The life in your eyes start to fade away
And the oldest memories float up their way
It is that when you feel the stench of death
They say a lot but I can’t agree at all
Long before the body fails and flesh falls
‘What will the world say’ kills us all
And it is that when you feel the stench of death
The freedom of the soul is shut in a small box
But rest assured for the car we drove was mighty
And beyond what we could afford
When the dreams we swiftly crushed for they did not fit
The general construct
It is then when you feel the stench of death
When thinking ‘out of the box’ is so important
We miss that it is the simple where the power lies
And waiting for the big day
We tread on the thousand simple joys
It is that when you feel the stench of death
When the wildness is sheathed with etiquettes
And happiness becomes measurable
When ideas should fetch profits
And imagination holds no place
It is that when you feel the stench of death
So, remember when they say you died
They talk of the carcass, not you
For you died with that crushed dream and lost wildness
That day, it is the body that took the last breath
But the soul was long back suffocated and killed
And that is when you feel the stench of death
