Starry Play

By Joel Doni Chirappurathu

In mysteries, haunting the dead of night

Far from the blood of a bleeding light

Away from the lamp that lights my world

A mirror of hope that moves the earth

That dances on a stage across the black

A stage with lights, much farther back

Singing a song for a brighter friend

For millennia more, to never end

Passions loud, some voices meek

But song in perfect harmony

That sings to those who look to the stage

Trapped in memories that build their cage

As minds forget and memories fade

Hearts remember those who stayed

To watch the calm light, where hope stems

And the stars that stayed to play for them

And when the curtains fall, the show, dim

They dream of the wonder that could have been

And Wish for a sky far from the day

To the stage of an olden classic play
