Speaking of You

By Parvati Uppala

When I remember you, my eyes cram with tears

For all the love I gave you through these years

There is a reason I chose to drift away

To guard our love from roving astray

I wish you had learned love’s gracious art

You would have cherished gift of my heart

I gave my macrocosm to keep joy by your side

But you held on to sorrows you could not hide

I cannot piece together what remains of us

Let pain reside, let memories make their fuss

All the promises you made were a false show

The universe once in your eyes has vanished slow

My paths lie broken, as if brushed away

My footsteps vanish in miles of gray

My heart once walked along your way

Now I am a wanderer, lost to the sway

Lonely are the edges of my breath

Let winds steal me past life and death

All I asked was shelter in the harbor of your eyes

To melt in your skin, through your breath arise

I carved my world with space for none but you

Even my nightmares are struggling to break through

From the time your obsession has risen high

My life dwells in you and my love will never die
