Soulmere

By Sanyukta Lokhande

I am here. My love is here. I am finally found.

Every second apart from him felt like minutes,

Every minute like days, each day a month

Each month? A year.

I have been eternity apart from him, feeling someone rips out every piece of me.

The irony?

He’s my heart, home, safe space, I feel like a child

His heart so pure, and his love so mild.

We have around a friend, a white friend.

We roam the city, carefree, there’s no end.

I see the green trees, the fresh breeze, the rainy smell.

Its almost as if you can see the smell of old books.

And it feels so surreal. The sky is golden brown.

He kisses my hand and loves me like I am a queen with a crown.

I wanna get lost, see only the sky with clouds,

The green scapes of forest,

Only smell the scent of him and the greens,

Its silvane, wraps me around like a motherly love.

Being loved by him is my greatest achievement.

Yet, when he is away, I have nothing accomplished.

I owe him my life. I wanna be his wife.

It is my greatest triumph. A love that comes, burns, mourns, runs, loves, once a month,

Like pieces and crumbs

Of love, like aching lungs of smoke, white doves and cries of hope.

Our love is rare, but it’s only fair. It’s ours.
