Soulmates

We would have been something by now if we wanted to be,

The truth is hard to say and even harder to believe;

But love is a road that goes both ways,

And feeds joy to the ones who work together even on the worst days.

With every little fight, I brace myself for a goodbye,

Wondering if that’s the reason you caught my eye;

I can see the autumn rain falling on my window pane,

The wet raindrops spelling out your name.

Perhaps, I’m not mine to be yours,

Neither are these undone years;

But I’ll let our eyes talk a great deal,

As my restrained words often fail to tell you what I really feel.

“Find what you love and let it kill you”,

Hurry up! Choose your weapon that should do;

You call it poetry, I call it shadows trailing,

Putting in sophisticated words to explain a chaotic feeling.

And if soulmates exist,they’re not the ones who are like you,

Instead, they’re the opposite, like a quatrain and a haiku;

Soul mates complete each other and mend the broken pieces,

They make the cure feel better than the disease is.

I’m wild, you keep me sane,

And without me, I don’t think you will ever pour the champagne;

You’re the only one who brings me back when I lose control,

I can promise to be the Jester to your Nestor soul.
