Soul to Soul

By Manpreet Singh

I may or may not know where I came from

And next time, where I will be gone

I’m so tired, wherever it is

The flowers of eternal garden await

But like a cocoon— I’m wrapped

How do I escape,

In a hollow vessel I’m trapped

Mind and heart suppressed me

Under their lust and greed—

I wish I could fly away,

Freedom is all I need

They sought for the truth in the mountains

But never dared to hold my hand—

These two think they have seen enough,

While I got to witness— every beginning and every end

No matter from where my journey embark

Some will burn it, some will bury

The cage of these bones

My only friend in this is death

She is the key to my liberation

While these two cease to exist,

I get a moment of celebration

It is pity—the cycle begins again

A journey of endless pain

I am an echo in the void

If you hear me, call me back

I am you—you are me

I can be a gem or a stone

It is just with what eyes you se
