Sorry May

Sorry May,
I thought our story was beautiful
but everytime I share,
Friends turn faces of such dismay.
Knowing how much we tried connecting
the dots,
Least' we learnt to become better adults,
is it not?
I dont know, what do I really know?
Her beauty I adore
but in her abode I feel alone
Need for connection starts to prone;
Surprises me we've come this far
Now we drift apart-
With Tears at your pillow and
my frowns at fall,
How things should've played out,
We'll never know.
Thought I could afford
a so called 'happily ever after'
Seeing friends and families
work out through the complexities
Leaves me thinking-
This Love game's just not for me
or you and I aren't meant to be.
Much coping involved, I know.
But you know that I hate superstitions
Guess I wasn't special at all,
We're just another line in a corny love song
So I'll just write this poem
in hopes that you'll see
Deep down I'll carry a part of you with me,
Sorry our harmony fell out of key,
I'll probably be numb myself and just be.
At one point, you were the best
None to ever come next
and anyone else in our way?
Mere collateral damage.
Consider this trilogy of a ballad
A last effort attempt,
grasping at what once we had
Try and translate it to the readers head
trial and mishaps we've made
Capture lightning in a bottle twice,
my pain, I'll share
It was indeed love and war
so it's all fair
You know I'm a fan of horror stories
and grim ends
But I wont allow a song about us
just be that.
So, I'm so sorry May.
We're Taylor cause
we've known all too well
The more we try for change,
The more we stay the same
Another dawn, another day.
And every time I pass our favorite stall
I'll give a glance, maybe a bit of smile
and keeping mind our bittersweet end.
