Someday

The nights be long.

When I sit alone

Near your hospital bed.

Say something

Say anything

There’s so much to be said.

Look at me, when I speak to you!

Remember once I said.

Look at me, when I speak to you!

But You’re still staring ahead

Look at me, when I speak to you!

I am starting to get mad.

For the longest time

I could hear your voice

Asking me to stay.

I stayed.

To keep my nightmares away.

To keep hoping every day,

Together again, we’ll see night and day.

For the promises you made

And my tears that you hate

Come home to me again.

I cry and cry,

As the days go by.

Life’s too bitter to live.

A needle to your skin,

Like pinprick to my heart,

Am dying with you within.

The dull white walls

And the light blue sheets,

That hide your dying light.

Are screaming for me to fight,

To still hold on to you so tight,

To never let you out of my sight.

The window near the bed gets smaller everyday

Just like the car I drove here, today

Everything’s closing on me

Your memories? They’re barely at bay

Why are you breathing so slow, today?

It’s empty today.

Your bedroom.

No lights, no sound

Just as quiet as yesterday.

I brought you a letter,

I wrote it after you left us, last Wednesday.

It’s a poem really,

I’ll recite it to your memories,

Someday.
