SOLVING A PUZZLE
By Aswathi Prasanth
Natural death it was told to be
For whom
For the demised?
Or the onlookers?
Or just for nature alone?
Natural death!
I forgot the definition
Even forgot if it is defined at all
Fine, fine…
Defining sounds simple
Let me do that
In a handful of words...
Naturally one stops...
No role for the self
Nature is in main role
You just watch life flying out
You don't have strain or pain
Your hard work doesn't count
Drunkard you might be
Not for a few weeks
You worked hard for years
But you let yourself be admitted
You died in a hospital -
Natural death it is
Nature alone has role
So why did they play with words
To assert a few to be 'unnatural'
Or' artificial' deaths!
Accident it was...
Again no role for the self...
Still they denied it to be natural
Did you know the speed of all
The motors all around the hour!
She died at a very young age
Or at an 'unnatural age' for being dead
Have you decided a 'die-able' age!
The list of artificiality grows...
So healthy he was-
Skin was perfect, could walk straight,
No hair fall was detected
Yet he committed suicide
Nothing but artificial death...
Did you ever look into his eyes?
But in the word play you forget
If anything sounds natural
Everything is natural
If anything sounds unnatural
Everything is unnatural
This tabulation shall fail
The beauty of something
That is beyond calculations
Of intellect and indexes
Let people live
Let people die
Let earth revolve
Let sun go and come
Let springs bring rain
Let winters be dry
Let summer be chilly
If it wishes
Look at everything as
A child looks at all
It just watches, never counts
It sees the more of it
It sees the whole of it
Everything natural and unnatural
Is nothing but natural
Everything natural and unnatural
Is nothing but unnatural
None has assigned us
With categorisation yet
It’s not word play
My handful of words fail
But mindful of willingness wins
And the puzzle is declared as solved
In a very puzzling way...
