Solitude By Choice!

Standing alone

On streets that go nowhere

I sought the stars for comfort-

None to be found

Just clouds-heavy, everywhere.

Not a familiar voice,

Not a hello to rejoice,

No passing smiles to echo back

Yet this solitude was my choice.

I hold on to it

And choose to watch

These laughing faces

With companions to walk.

In silence I wonder,

In silence I drown,

In silence I wander

These streets of town.

Out there someday,

When I’ll have no one

Perhaps a smile

Would brighten my day

Out there someday,

When I’ll have nowhere

Perhaps a heart

Will ask me to stay.
