Solitary Melancholy
By Tanisha Sanvi
The tiring day had passed,
The lonesome night has come alas.
It was a room so gloomy,
That I had laid within.
Soon I felt his presence eerie,
I looked around yet I could not find.
Suddenly I heard his voice,
A certain warm, a certain low,
“It is time for you to go”.
I looked around,
And there I found.
The figure dark and dreary,
The man of death.
In the darkest corner of my mind,
My room.
“It is too early”, a part of me said,
“It is already too late”,
He whispered in my ear,
For he did not care.
He held out his hand for mw to hold,
I raised mine and closed my eyes to follow.
For I was tired of hearing,
“If you die
No one would cry
But celebrate with joy”.
It was the burden I was bearing.
He showed me the way,
As I sang the solitary melancholy.
In the end,
I stood upon a building so tall.
He told me to take the fall,
And end it all.
I said,
“I hope when I die
May even a single soul cry”.
I took the step and for a while I flew,
My heart was beating fast.
But I was happy,
That my pain would no longer last.
I took one last look at the starry sky,
The stars, they shone so bright.
It was all for me,
The moment felt as if it was meant to be.
The last I remember,
I heard a scream,
“A girl! She took the fall!
And gave up on her life and her dreams!”
Soon, I woke up in a white room,
Trapped in wires and beeping machine.
A tear, it rolled down my cheek,
The doctor, he ran up to me,
“You are alive! Are you fine”
Atleast that is what I think he said.
I did not answer,
I just closed my eyes and suddenly,
I heard his voice again.
As he sang me the same good old,
Solitary Melancholy.
