Sniff and Scratch
By Ranjana Gorakhnath Tidke
Sniff and scratch
Yelp and bark
Early every morning
I do these task
Bees are humming
In chorus on a tree
Birds hopping and flying
On a chirping spree
The farmer's wife
Sweeps fallen leaves
To trap a fly, the spider
Wearily weaves
The suspicious robin
Appears from nowhere
The rooster is crowing
Every passing hour
Big trucks are rushing
Frome here to there
They have some goodies
To take somewhere
Far away I hear
A bark and a howl
May be they've discovered
Something big or small
So I sniff and scratch
And dig the ground
I too have to match
The busy world around
