Snatching The Poet

Oh, why do you slowly snatch this talent?

It’s not just something that rapidly happened

Perhaps my thoughts remain incomplete

Why control me… although they replete

Why retrain a writer?

Why ask us to prove that we’re a fighter?

My words were never meant to fit into a space

My words don’t need to fall into a specific place

Do not use an essay to tell me where to go

Let me use my poems… allow me to flow

What if my poems were all I could offer

You snatch my talent… is this a form of torture?

What if your rules take the writer in me away,

While you slowly make my creativity decay…

Will you finally regret it when there’s nothing left to say?
