Sleepless Nights

By Manpreet Singh

Here I stand, from a good night’s sleep—

To a sleepless night

I wonder who will win—pain or hope

In this fight

Being good never brought good—

Killing that goodness might

Delusion that dwelled in mind—

Blurring vision for every sight

Now questioning myself for the deeds I did—

Were they wrong, or right?

Looked around, surrounded by complete darkness—

I’m just looking for a ray of light

This endless suffering — maybe I am meant to suffer,

No matter who did what.

Do not mistake it for a poem—

It’s the pain of my heart, I did write

And here I stand, from a good night’s sleep—

To the sleepless night.
