Sitting Beside The Ocean

Updated: Jul 27

By Amina Nazir

sitting beside the ocean

i clutch the wet sand

and taunt the waves

that the best you can do?

the waves taunt me back

teasing my feet

taking back the little land i've claimed

sand grains slipping past my grip

i scoot closer and get pushed back

the way we spot trains

blow bubbles only to pop them

keep people on the line.....

to hear them softly breathing,

cluttering and shifting about

the lovely pointlessness of it all.
