Silly Us

Days with you feel like a roller coaster ride

Thrills and twists with laughter on the side

I steal the blanket but you tug it back tight

Our playful game goes on through the night

Your snore scares the heck right out of me

I nudge you awake, but you don’t wake to see

I serve you a burnt chicken breast

But you smile and insist it’s the best

We fight, we bicker, we play the blame game

Yet hand in hand, we habitually end the same

When I stumble and trip, I make an utmost show

You laugh at me so hard that tears start to flow

At the restaurant table, our dainty quarrel resumes

Your pick versus mine sparks the menu to fumes

I send you shopping with the grocery list in hand

You bring back everything but not what I planned

You trick me when I wait on my birthday full-eyed

With a gift of giant box that holds empty boxes inside

You buy me dresses that are not of my size

Then giggle when I model like a clown in disguise

You always get us lost on each of our vacation

Yet we end up on the most romantic destination

Every night we infallibly have a pillow fight

Just to decide who turns off the light
