Sieve Of The Soul
By Srivats Voleti
In the intricate tapestry of human connection,
Where threads of kindness and love attempt to weave,
Some souls resemble sieves, porous and fragile,
They yearn for warmth, a sense of belonging,
Yet their own self-destructive tendencies
Act as relentless drains, seeping away every offering.
Fear, a venomous serpent, coils within,
Whispering anxieties, amplifying insecurities.
This fear drives them to push others away,
A pre-emptive strike against the vulnerability
That genuine love demands.
The soul, once perhaps capable of holding,
Now riddled with unseen perforations.
Kindness offered, love extended,
Now seep through the cracks, leaving only
The residue of longing.
They navigate the world
With this inherent inability to retain,
A self-imposed exile.
Yearning for the very connection they actively repel,
Afraid to confront the vulnerability that true love demands.
But perhaps, even for these fractured souls,
A different possibility exists:
A slow mending, a gradual healing.
The learning to receive, to trust the offered hand,
To let the light remain, and the emptiness recede.
The journey is arduous,
A constant struggle against the internal currents
That pull them towards isolation.
Yet, within each of these souls,
A flicker of hope remains,
A testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
The path to healing is not linear,
Often marked by setbacks and moments of despair.
But with each small step towards self-acceptance,
Each act of vulnerability, the cracks begin to mend,
The sieve begins to hold.
And in that newfound capacity to receive,
A profound sense of peace and fulfilment can be found.
