SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE

When your biggest dream just died

The repeated failures and how hard you tried

To pick yourself up from every defeat

The goal – unattainable, you start to believe

Blood, sweat and tears seem bitterly futile

You can’t find the strength to go on with life.

SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE

When your kindred is no more

The unsaid words and how you were before

Regret and grief permeated through

The laughter, the secrets, the smile you knew

Memories of a voice that made you alright

You can’t find the strength to go on with life

SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE

When your lover broke your heart

The unrequited love and how you drifted apart

While you still loved him, you forgave his lies

Did you feel your stomach retch inside

Where the butterflies you once felt, slowly died

You can’t find the strength to go on with life.

SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE

When deathly doors are opening

Not to death itself But to the end of living.

Moments that you lived for – disappearing

Lost and broken, you barely survive

Your body is breathing

It’s your heart that’s not alive.

SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE

With despondence unexplained.

With feelings that have no name.

Not with talk that will placate

Nor with thoughts that will negate.

But with your regained zest for living.

With your convalescent spirit a-singing.

SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE

And I will find my strength

Through a false finish

A masqueraded end.

How did you move on? How did you live?

Where did you find yourself?

Above, beneath, around, within?

SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE

With all my broken pieces gathered

In courage and strength and valour

Show me how to live

And I will learn through this pain

Like a seed that dies in the ground

I will live again.
