Shadows Of My Era

A dagger in my back,

To paint your heart red,

Eating yellow paint in search of happiness,

I’ve been searching the sky,

But I was digging my grave.

Should I have stood here proud,

Or crumbled into this glory?

What is this era in my story?

You blame me in a blindfold,

How could I have known?

Each step, a question unanswered,

Each breath, a whispered plea,

Lost in a maze of broken dreams,

A prisoner yearning to be free.

A dagger in my back,

Yet I stand, though torn and scarred,

For in the pain of lost illusions,

I forge my heart, unmarred.

Should I have stood here proud,

Or crumbled into this glory?

What is this era in my story?

You blame me in a blindfold,

How could I have known?
