Shadows

They all fade away…

One by one, they all fade away,

Like shadows at the end of a long day,

Like the how the sun hides behind a cloud in the middle of May.

I watch them leave,

Closely…

I watch them go,

Quickly…

Yet, no one tells me where they flow,

Or if they’ll ever again show.

The world stays still, the sky stays blue,

Ever so slightly turning to grey, but no one knew…

Suddenly, there are fewer souls to view,

Fewer shadows left,

But still disappearing like all the rest.

And when the last one disappears,

I’m left alone with all my fears,

My lost thoughts,

My salty tears.

Maybe people are seasons too —

They come, they change and they leave you…

And then suddenly,

All that is left when they’re gone,

Is the person you once knew,

And that person just happens to be you…
