Shadow

When I wanted to be myself,

My shadow didn’t stop me.

On my problems I didn’t dwell,

I didn’t know how far I’d go, being free.

If I listened to my heart and shadow,

I would get what I had been hoping for.

Whoever was not with me, I’d ignore,

My shadow was always with me, I was sure.

If I had tried to run away from my shadow,

It would’ve still followed me everywhere.

My shadow was my follower, it would follow,

Running away was never an option, I swear.

To achieve my dream, I did my best.

I gave my best effort,

Even though my shadow and I clashed,

We were one, no doubt.

My shadow could never break me off,

This, it knew.

Whether I succeeded or failed, it didn’t stop,

It came with me, no matter which way I flew.

I couldn’t escape, wherever I went.

I am it, and it is me,

Now I know,

It’s the way god sent.
