Separation

My heart feeling heavy,

Slowly thudding against the rib cage.

My tongue drying in my mouth.

My guts coiling back

and knot in my throat,

Choking me so bad.

My eyes well up quietly,

Against my resolve to stay unfazed.

My heart bursts into a million pieces.

As I gather the shards one by one,

I realize that I am truly alone.
