Sentiments and Jewellery

Caption Of Artwork : As an Indian, I feel that jewellery plays an important part in our culture with women using it as an accessory in their day to day lives for multiple events. From birthdays to weddings, there is jewellery piece for each event. Through generations there have different ways of storing jewellery and rituals of passing down jewellery through generations. Hence, through this artwork, I wanted to highlight how jewellery and the way of preserving jewellery has evolved through the years by showcasing three jewellery different jewellery boxes and one pendant which is family heirloom passed down by my great-grandmother. Therefore, this not only demonstrates evolution but also the feelings and emotions attached to jewellery which is passed down through generations when as it communicates responsibility and coming of age as it is passed down when a girl comes of age of either marriage or adolescence
