Self-Princess

She's been a princess all her life,
Never wanted a prince.
Never churned for the tag of just a wife.
Ball gowns made her wince.
She never had those very long hair.
Neither - a mermaid tail.
Nor a fairy god-mother,
And Oh Blimey, she couldn't sail.
She wasn't one that played with dolls.
And certainly not one to wait.
She hated sitting through ballroom halls,
because that stupid prince was so late.
She often wondered how fiction worked,
and why it worked so.
When she understood, she meant to change it.
So that day, she made an ought.
"I'll show the world what a princess is.
And what a change she can bring.
That she is more well-deserving,
then just wearing a prince's ring.”
“What if Cinderella couldn't get her Charming?
Or Rapunzel couldn’t meet a Flynn?
Should the princesses keep waiting,
and yearning freedom within?”
“What if Jasmine never met Aladdin?
Or Ariel never saw Eric?
Should these girls keep suffering
and expect a boy to play the trick?”
“And what if the prince's horse refused? Or if he was severely underdressed.
Should the princess then get sorted, or further wait to be messed?”
“So, here's to all the princesses:
Never wait to be saved.
These stories teach us nothing.
It's just ‘kingdom’ that is crazed.”
“Dear Aurora, wake up yourself, rather than waiting for a kiss.
Dear Ariel, you are enough! What you have is a bliss.
Dear Cinderella, stand up for your rights, rather than wanting to go to the ball.
Dear Snow-White escape that terror, run, swift, or crawl.”
“A princess isn't because of a prince.
Nor because of her ball gowns' spin.
A princess is a princess,
when she believes she is one; from within.”
