Scars Of History

Will it ever be forgotten?

Will those tortured souls find peace?

Will we ever know the truth?

The dark soil,

Home to the dark truth.

The roots deep into the earth,

Bind these truths to reality.

The waves bring them every day,

Unable to stop it's agony and anguish.

The Sun gives light upon these truths,

As a reminder,

That life hasn't always been fair.

That life hasn't been fair to those,

Who had no fault in their hearts.

We need to remember,

Those thousands of people,

Who died in pain.

We need to remember,

The downfall of mankind.

It pinches us,

Every time we go back to our origins.

How selfish were we,

Or are we still?

How can we say that humanity has awaken,

After so many are dead.

How can we rectify a mistake,

Which cannot be rectified?

We are no more one world,

But divided by what we did.

People of one world don't gas each other,

People of one world don't gage wars.

Are we even humans if we can't show humanity?

Of course,

It's history,

We need to let it stay in the past.

Past cannot be forgotten,

Only be learned from.

It cannot be ignored,

Cause it's where we have come from.

Oh,

The scars of history cut deep,

The wounds may heal,

Or they may not.

Those tortured souls rest in our heart,

Reminding us to never repeat,

What happened with them.

Only a band aid can hide those scars,

For a temporary time that too.

The pain will always stay.

But there is no power,

That can let these scars,

Fade away.
