Scam Party

When help came, it was all too late.

Like a party’s aftermath, after Halloween.

All emptied out, but unlike homely mess.

Essentials all taken, leaving only quiet remnants.

Clothes, scalpel, knives, saws, shear-like scissors,

gurney table, IV-drip stands and empty IV bags,

monitors-without-their-CPUs,

long tables in long rows,

like graveyard-gravestones.

The partygoers had all left. The masterminds

and the coerced guests.

Forced to feed lies till they can’t.

Feed on little scraps and regurgitate

inflation to those willing to listen,

read. We must have bought their stories

because we could feel their misery,

transmuted. Genuine fear for their lives

and of the stun batons, cattle prods,

the handcuffs and darkrooms, the zip ties

and nylon cords, the glass-rooms, and

condoms, to fill them up and to be filled.

The worst would surely be to sleep,

an injection of no return. Hollow corpses.

Or worse, to wake up with half their organs.

A human-hell-farm, this scam cavity.
