Sacrificial

Love doesn’t has to be sacrificial

But that’s how it’s often conveyed

I give you something of mine

So your heart knows it’s weight

But it isn’t how it should be

You don’t have to prove me your heart’s worth

Leaving you with a lesser portion doesn’t content my thirst

And you so casually do it

You don’t even see a fault

You go ahead and offer me half of your orange by default

Even though I’m not hungry and I’m capable of getting one on my own

You go ahead offer me leaving your hunger atone

But wouldn’t it be better if I get an orange too

And then we could break even

With enough of it for us to go through

You don’t have too sign away your pieces to me

Or pledge your alliance with expense of your heart

I don’t love you for what you can give me

I simply love you because of who you are
