Running Away

Original Submission by Carter Logan

In. Out. In. Out.

The sound of labouring lungs,

Lungs that burn like Hellfire.

A body burning in agony,

Why? Why do we run?

What I run from is myself.

A self that is worse than death;

A self that brings fear to my heart.

A heart now broken by fear.

What monster chases us?

What shadow forever grips our souls?

A creature so vile we run;

We run but it finds us.

Are the creatures we run from us?
