Role Of Youth In Nation Building

This quote depicts the importance of youth very well. Swami Vivekananda knew the potential of youth and he had worked a lot to inspire them. That’s why his birth anniversary is celebrated as National Youth Day on 12th January every year. Youth serve as the building blocks in developing any nation. India is the largest democracy in the world. More than 65% of the total population in India is below 25 years of age. They are full of energy and innovative minds. They are highly motivated and determined. They can help in developing the nation. If taken in a positive direction, they can apply their full potential towards the transformation of the country. We can estimate the power of united youth with an example of the famous Delhi gang-rape case in 2012, outrage in people had occurred. The mass level protest was held which had created a huge impact on people.

Unfortunately, India’s rank in different development indexes is above 100. For example, India ranks 131 in the Human Development Index and 144 in the Human Happiness Index. Even after 75 years of independence of India, youth is facing a lot of problems like unemployment, poverty, discrimination, violence, etc.

Keeping in mind the importance of youth, it becomes the utmost responsibility of the government and people to help youth in pursuing better education, getting the best opportunities to work and leading a peaceful life. They should be given equal opportunities in politics, sports, arts and various other fields so that they can serve the nation in a better way. They can serve as governors, bureaucrats, sportspersons and even the Prime Minister and what would be better than that. Ending on with another quote given by Swami Vivekananda.
