I flipped the pages of the years gone by,

Feels like yesterday, the reminiscence of an etched memory is hard to deny.

The hearty laughter with timeless moments that were spent,

With the fusion of sorrow and tears from undeniable losses, a time to vent!

These were captured in a frayed journal of a forgotten ancestor,

An artistic handwriting with scribbles that seem to add character;

The pages were shrivelled but the words did not fade,

With the reminiscence of an etched memory, their depth was hard to evade.

There were stories of struggles with freedom and personal toil,

There were deep shades of racism and disparity, a true blood boil.

Voices of few that dared to be the change,

The reminiscence of an etched memory was an inspiration through every outrage.

It was not all about a war cry or heroes of the land,

There was a mysterious love story, blossoming in this turmoil, hard to understand.

The words were fragile but could not suppress the emotion at play,

It was a capture in the reminiscence of an etched memory that will forever stay.

I caressed the book in my arms with a deep sigh,

Transported to another time, I will not deny.

The reminiscence of an etched memory, have given me reason to see,

The beauty and pure joy in a forgotten simplicity!

I want to be tangled in these woven threads of yesterday,

It seems like a mess that will lift my soul every day.

The reminiscence of an etched memory give many reasons to yearn for more,

Occupying my soul, deeper in its core
