Red for a Stranger

By Ch.Khyati Neerajakshi

How deep is your presence!

Like the silence in the library.

Like the sun that paints

the evening sky so red,

I wish you’d be the one

to turn my blood a brighter red,

with every vital pulse

that beats just for you.

The closest I get to seeing you clearly

was never really close.

As my eyes search for you,

the crowd is unveiling you.

You are the art

that is unnoticed by the world.

The messy hair,

the long lashes,

and folded sleeves of his shirt.

The little college chai breaks

are so blurred out

that I couldn’t take my eyes off you.

It will be me who is waiting

at the bus stop,

not for the bus, but to see you

in that helmet with that bag.

One day ,may I be as close

as your backpack.

I am worried that if I blink

My eyes for once,

I could then miss the chance

of seeing you

even for that one second.
