Rebel's Resolve
By Pujita Ganotra
"What are you most scared of?"
They asked
"Failure" she answered
For she had forgone her mask
She promised to herself
She won't be the person she used to be
The girl who stayed quiet
When all she wanted was to scream
Her thoughts were loud
So was her self-doubt
She felt messed up inside
She felt as if a part of her died
Tried, she genuinely tried
To be the perfect daughter
The perfect bride
But alas! She failed
Her reputation's stained
People whispered
People talked
About the girl distraught
But this time she fought
She cried and cried at first
Then she started having this thirst
Of freedom and revenge
This time she decided it was society that had to bend
The first step was to do anything but blend
Ironic! Am I right?
The girl was crazy enough to think
That she could fight
The society and their rules
She refused herself to be their tool
Day and night
She would prepare
For their judgemental stares
She looked in the mirror
And practiced a lot
To keep her confidence high
Not to react to their pitiful sighs
It took a lot of time
To undo the damage, they had caused
Sometimes slow down and even pause
But she didn't give up
She fell and stood back up
She wanted to become tough
This went on for days to weeks to months
For life never stops for anyone
She fought and she fought well
She made sure to leave a legacy
Worthy to be called a rebel
